Basketball Recap: Sierra Timberwolves vs. Kimball Jaguars
The Sierra Timberwolves struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Thursday (the Kimball Jaguars were 30% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Sierra took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. If Sierra was looking for revenge after losing 59-41 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Sierra's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mya Everett, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. Emma Gilmore was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Kimball found their leader in underclassman Emma Coronado, who scored 29 points along with three blocks and two steals. Another player making a difference was Sierra Tuliau, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Sierra's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Kimball, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
Sierra will head out on the road to challenge the Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Manteca focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday. As for Kimball, they will be playing at home against the Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Union is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
