Basketball Recap: Pacheco Skates Past Central Valley with Ease

Pacheco had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 39-point drubbing they dealt Central Valley on Thursday. The Pacheco Panthers blew past the Central Valley Hawks, posting a 54-15 victory. That 39 point margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Pacheco found their leader in freshman Mary Tava, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Tava has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 14 times she's played. Jeanette Ortiz was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Pacheco's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Central Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.

Pacheco wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-17 victory against Johansen on the 3rd. Central Valley has also already played their next contest, a 46-38 defeat against Beyer on the 3rd.
