Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Carmel vs. Del Norte

The Mt. Carmel Sundevils will head out on the road to take on the Del Norte Nighthawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Mt. Carmel didn't have quite enough to beat San Dieguito Academy and fell 3-2. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Sundevils came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Mustangs are ranked 109th).

Meanwhile, Del Norte unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They and Carlsbad finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Nighthawks' first draw of the season.

With that draw, Del Norte's record moves to 3-3-1. As for Mt. Carmel, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3.

Mt. Carmel came up short against Del Norte in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 2-0. Can Mt. Carmel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
