Baseball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

Madison had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 3-11 to make it five. They fell just short of the Dirigo Cougars by a score of 4-3. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Landon Dunham was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Logan Dawes also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Dirigo, their record now sits at 4-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 30, 2025.

On Dirigo's side, Hudson Lufkin made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, Lufkin posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Colin Waugh was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Dirigo: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Caden Hutchinson, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

Coming up, Madison will be playing at home against Oak Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Dirigo, they will venture away from home to face off against Mount Abram at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Roadrunners will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
