Preview: Minden Whippets vs. Central City Bison
Minden is 4-0 against Central City since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Minden Whippets will be playing at home against the Central City Bison. Central City took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Minden, who comes in off a win.
Minden waltzed into Saturday's matchup with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 52-48 victory over Broken Bow.
Minden's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Myla Emery, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Emery has scored at least 25% of Minden's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Starkey, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Central City suffered a tough 40-20 defeat at the hands of Centura on Friday. Central City has struggled against Centura recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Central City saw an underclassman step up: Reagan Fousek scored 7 points.
Their wins bumped Minden to 3-1 and Broken Bow to 3-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: Minden have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 31% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Central City, though, as they've only made 0% of theirs this season. Given Minden's sizeable advantage in that area, Central City will need to find a way to close that gap.
