Soccer Game Preview: Houston County vs. Coffee

The Houston County Bears will take on the Coffee Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

On Friday, Houston County needed a bit of extra time to put away Thomas County Central. They never let the Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Bears were the better team in the second half.

Coffee played in conference for the first time on Tuesday and they got just the result they we're looking for. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Coffee who was credited with the victory. Coffee got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Thomas County Central's four. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won three in a row.

Houston County's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four contests. As for Coffee, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4.

Everything went Houston County's way against Coffee in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, as Houston County made off with a 4-0 victory. Will Houston County repeat their success, or does Coffee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
