Mead dropped down to 6-6 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 10-1 to the Broomfield Eagles. The Mavericks were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Eagles' pitcher proved too tough.
Mead saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ari Tovar, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
As for Broomfield, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.
On Broomfield's side, Ireland Heer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Heer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Lilly Smith was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Myah Becker was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mead is set to face off against their familiar foe Silver Creek at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Broomfield will take on rival Fairview at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
