Football Recap: Lyons Drops Highest Score of Season Against Belle Plaine

Lyons's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 26-18 victory over the Belle Plaine Dragons. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Xander Young had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 240 yards and two scores while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Those 240 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Young was just one part of a punishing run game: Lyons was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 304 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Another reason for the win was Lyons' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. Miguel Corona refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Young got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Lyons' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Belle Plaine, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

As of now, neither Lyons nor the Dragons have any future games scheduled.
