Softball Recap: Northwest Whitfield Takes a Loss

Northwest Whitfield extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They came up short against the LaFayette Ramblers, falling 12-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bruins of the 12-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

As for LaFayette, they pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

For LaFayette's part, Marlie Day looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Day has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, LaFayette got a massive performance out of Emma House, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Tamra Yancy was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

While Northwest Whitfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
