North Platte had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against Gering as they made off with a 12-5 victory. Considering North Platte has won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Tiffany Townsend made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Aryadnna Reyna was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was Lauren Bowers, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

North Platte was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gering only posted a batting average of .192.

North Platte's win bumped their record up to 14-11. As for Gering, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season.

North Platte will face off against Lincoln East at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Gering, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 12-0 victory against Gothenburg on the 25th.
