Baseball Recap: Mays Comes Up Short

Mays was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 15-5 to the Jackson Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 last Monday.

TyReon Byner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Mays' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-12 when he doesn't). Tyson Williams was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Mays' loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Jackson, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mays will welcome Drew at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mays is facing Drew at the right time seeing as Drew is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Jackson, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Jackson Jaguars challenge Forest Park Panthers at 5:55 p.m. on Friday.
