Soccer Game Preview: Chardon vs. Mayfield

Chardon hasn't had much luck against Mayfield recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hilltoppers are taking a road trip to square off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Chardon comes in on four and Mayfield on six.

While Chardon's victory against Madison wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hilltoppers never let the Blue Streaks get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Thursday. Chardon wouldn't have won without Ethan Jackson, who scored the game-winner.

Chardon was without their leading scorer, Will Monkiewicz, in Thursday's contest. With Monkiewicz sidelined, TJ Adair got his first action of the season.

Meanwhile, South kept up with Mayfield until halftime on Tuesday, but afterwards: not so much. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Rebels. Mayfield might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by three goals or more this season.

Chardon's victory bumped their record up to 11-3-1. As for Mayfield, their win bumped their record up to 10-3-1.

Chardon came out on top in a nail-biter against Mayfield in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hilltoppers since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
