Baseball Recap: Wayne County Comes Up Short

Wayne County came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-2 to the George County Rebels. The War EaglesLady War Eagles haven't had much luck with the Rebels recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Wayne County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jon Michael Pitts, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Pitts is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Wayne County's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for George County, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Wayne County will venture away from home to square off against Quitman at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for George County, they will welcome Washington County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rebels 4, the Bulldogs 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
