Soccer Game Preview: Santa Monica vs. Torrance

The Santa Monica Vikings will head out to challenge the Torrance Tartars at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Santa Monica's offense. They came up short against San Luis Obispo on Saturday, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Tigers are ranked third).

Meanwhile, Torrance was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were one goals away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of South.

Santa Monica has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4-1 record this season. As for Torrance, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Santa Monica skirted past Torrance 2-1 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Does Santa Monica have another victory up their sleeve, or will Torrance turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
