Soccer Game Preview: Summit vs. Kaiser

The Summit SkyHawks will square off against the Kaiser Cats at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Summit is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Summit's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Arroyo Valley by a score of 2-0. Given the SkyHawks' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 418th, while the Hawks are ranked 918th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Kaiser had just enough and edged Rim of the World out 2-1 on Wednesday. The Cats wouldn't have won without Dalissa Montes, who scored the game-winner.

Kaiser used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Rim of the World. Natalie Ramirez played for 80 minutes having averaged 51 this season and Alondra Garcia got 80 vs. an average of 50. Ramirez made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal and seven steals A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Kaiser's win bumped their record up to 6-9-2. As for Summit, they are also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season.

Summit was able to grind out a solid victory over Kaiser in their previous meeting on Saturday, winning 3-1. Will Summit repeat their success, or does Kaiser have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
