Baseball Game Preview: Pepperell Dragons vs. Elbert County Blue Devils

The Pepperell Dragons will square off against the Elbert County Blue Devils on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Pepperell sitting on five straight victories and Elbert County on 16.

Pepperell is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Lamar County 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dragons have posted since March 27th.

Elbert County let Chattooga stack six runs on them in the fifth inning on Friday but luckily Elbert County prevailed anyway. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Indians. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Brock Dye looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Elbert County let Jose Rodrigues and Rylan Brown run wild. Rodrigues went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and one double, while Brown went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Rodrigues has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Sam Amabile was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Pepperell's record now sits at 20-12. As for Elbert County, their record is now 26-6.
