After losing to Shaw the last time they met, Columbus decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Blue Devils had just enough and edged out the Raiders 9-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

RJ Griffin made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on William Randall, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caden Bryans, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Columbus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Columbus back to even at 14-14. As for Shaw, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-13.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Columbus will take on rival Spencer at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Shaw is set to square off against their familiar foe Kendrick at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
