Baseball Recap: Briarwood Academy's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Briarwood Academy's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Augusta E Eagles by a score of 6-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Buccaneers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Banks DeMore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Briarwood Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. DeMore was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Briarwood Academy let Brycen Gunby and Carson Chalker run wild. Gunby scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Chalker got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Carson Callaway also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

The victory got Briarwood Academy back to even at 3-3. As for Augusta E, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Briarwood Academy will take on John Hancock Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Briarwood Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Augusta E, they will challenge Providence Athletic Club at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
