Softball Recap: Covington Comes Up Short

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Covington nor Troy made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Buccaneers fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2. The Buccaneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Covington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emalyn Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

With the defeat, Covington broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-6. As for Troy, their record is now 24-3.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Covington will square off against Botkins at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Buccaneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Troy, they will face off against Miamisburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
