Basketball Recap: Rancho Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against La Jolla Country Day on Friday, Rancho Christian came back down to earth. The Eagles were beaten by the Archbishop Mitty Monarchs 76-46 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since January 13th.

Despite the defeat, Rancho Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addison Archer shot 71% from the field on her way to 14 points and seven boards. Archer has also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: she's posted one of at least 47% every time she's hit the court this season. Azalea Vilaysing was another key player, putting up eight points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Rancho Christian fell to 5-1. As for Archbishop Mitty, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Rancho Christian will head out to square off against Sierra Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Trailblazers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Archbishop Mitty, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Oakland Tech at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
