Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Tift County's 11th in Last 12 Outings

Tift County hadn't done well against Colquitt County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Packers. Considering the Blue Devils have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Lily Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ella Bruce was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Marlee Veazey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Tift County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive matchups.

Tift County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Colquitt County, they now have a losing record of 13-14.

Tift County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Packers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
