Soccer Game Preview: Riverdale vs. Mendota

The Riverdale Cowboys will take on the Mendota Aztecs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Riverdale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Caruthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cowboys.

Meanwhile, Mendota hasn't lost a match since January 3rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Wednesday. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was Mendota who was credited with the win. Mendota got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Minarets' three.

Mendota is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those 11 games. As for Riverdale, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Riverdale came out on top in a nail-biter against Mendota in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will Riverdale repeat their success, or does Mendota have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
