High school softball runs leaders: Alabama signee Larissa Preuitt breaks triple digits

Speedy Hartselle senior outfielder scored 103 times, just off the Alabama state record.

One of the nation's top players leads the country in runs scored, according to the MaxPreps leaderboards. Alabama signee Larissa Preuitt of Hartselle (Ala.) finished with 103 runs, just off the state record of 107.

In 61 games, the senior outfielder batted .552 with a national best 100 hits, 60 RBI, 13 triples, seven home runs and 86 steals. She led her team to a 51-9-1 season. The Tigers lost in the AHSAA 6A North Regional to Athens, 2-1.

Preuitt finished shy of other state records of 122 hits and 107 stolen bases. She finished second in the country in stolen bases to another Alabamian, Ja'khia Hutchins of North Jackson (Stevenson) with 93.

Only one other player scored 80 runs this season, Desirae Spearman of Hanks (El Paso, Texas) with 85.
