Recap: Thousand Oaks Lancers vs. Oaks Christian Lions
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calabasas, the Thousand Oaks Lancers were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 55-54 victory over Oaks Christian. That's another feather in the cap for Thousand Oaks, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Thousand Oaks was led to victory by Kira Jones and Jaelah Brown. Jones dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Brown dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hailey Lauritzen, who scored four points.
Oaks Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Bonita Liu, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Kushner, who scored 12 points.
Thousand Oaks has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season. As for Oaks Christian, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-16.
Thousand Oaks will be playing at home against Westlake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westlake knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Thousand Oaks likes a good challenge. As for Oaks Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Agoura at 7:00 a.m. on Friday. Oaks Christian is facing Agoura at the right time seeing as Agoura is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
