Softball Recap: Fairbury Comes Up Short

Fairbury extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 4-14. They lost 16-3 to the Malcolm Clippers. If the Jeffs were looking for revenge after losing 11-2 to the Clippers when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Fairbury saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Wentz, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Malcolm, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Malcolm's side, they let Madysen Wall and Morgan Tiedeman run wild. Wall went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Tiedeman got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave Tiedeman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Green, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Looking ahead, Fairbury will host Seward at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Malcolm, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Platteview at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
