Basketball Recap: Sutter Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Sutter had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.4 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Natomas Nighthawks, sneaking past 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted since December 27, 2025.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sutter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gia Rickertsen, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 18 rebounds. Rickertsen has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more boards the last 16 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Bautista, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 18 points and eight rebounds.

Sutter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Sutter's win bumped their record up to 21-7. As for Natomas, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-13.

As of now, neither Sutter nor the Nighthawks have any future games scheduled.
