MaxPreps/USA Baseball to Select High School Player of the Week

CAMERON PARK, Calif, - MaxPreps and USA Baseball (USAB) are teaming up in an effort to promote high school baseball and highlight accomplishments of the nearly 484,000 student-athletes participating in the sport annually throughout the entire nation.

MaxPreps will serve as the official statistics and results provider for USA Baseball's High School Player of the Week program.Each week during the spring season, USA Baseball will choose a Pitcher of the Week and Player of the week in each of the regions who had a great week in play to receive the award.

“USA Baseball joins the American Volleyball Coaches Association, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in using MaxPreps.com as their statistical hub to promote their sports and athletes,” said MaxPreps Founder and President Andy Beal. “MaxPreps is thrilled to collaborate with USA Baseball to celebrate great high school baseball players throughout the U.S. Together, USA Baseball and MaxPreps are able to shine a light on future baseball stars today.”

Coaches must submit player statistics to MaxPreps in order to make their athlete eligible to win the award.

MaxPreps publishes schedules, scores and standings for each of the nearly 16,000 schools participating in baseball across the country. MaxPreps also provides high school coaches with team pages, statistical software and a variety of other services, all free of charge.

Based in Durham, North Carolina, USA Baseball will use results and statistics provided by MaxPreps to assist in its Player of the Week program in 8 regions across the country and aid in the site's efforts to become America's resource for baseball information.

Winners will receive a MaxPreps/USAB branded letterman’s patch and recognition on MaxPreps.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter the athlete's game stats into MaxPreps by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week’s award. The MaxPreps/USAB High School Player of the Week will be announced by USA Baseball every Monday during the spring season.
