Basketball Recap: Kami Gillis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Escondido Charter over Carlsbad

Escondido Charter and Carlsbad squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Escondido Charter had to settle for second. They fell 74-63 to the Carlsbad Lancers. The Tigers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kami Gillis, who posted 15 points and five steals. Escondido Charter is 19-5 when Gillis posts three or more steals, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Faith Grayson, who scored nine points and five steals.

Escondido Charter's loss dropped their record down to 23-10. As for Carlsbad, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season.

Escondido Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carlsbad, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-52 defeat against Mater Dei Catholic on the 6th.
