Klein hadn't done well against Klein Cain recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bearkats blew past the Hurricanes, posting a 71-34 victory. Fans of the Bearkats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Leading Klein to victory were Edward Kelly Jr and Grant Stratta. Kelly Jr gained 331 total yards and three touchdowns, while Stratta rushed for 235 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries. What's more, Kelly Jr racked up 253 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Kendrick Brown was another key back, rushing for 71 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Klein was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 631 rushing yards. They rushed for 347 more rushing yards than Klein Cain's also-impressive total of 284.

Klein Cain lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Zach Johnson, who threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also rushed for 77 yards on only five carries. Klein Cain's leading receiver Max Yates was Johnson's top target yet again, picking up 146 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

The win (which was Klein's fourth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 31.5 points thus far. As for Klein Cain, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
