Baseball Recap: Baldwin Comes Up Short

Baldwin had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-10 to make it eight. They lost 13-0 to the Hephzibah Rebels. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rebels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

As for Hephzibah, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 4-8. The matchup marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

For Hephzibah's part, Fredrich Fye was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Fye has posted since back in March of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

In other batting news, Hephzibah let Rodney Patterson and Devonye Person run wild. Patterson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI, while Person got on base in all three of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Person has become a key player for Hephzibah: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Joshua Jones, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

While Baldwin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
