Soccer Game Preview: Westmont vs. Gunderson

The Westmont Warriors will head out to square off against the Gunderson Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Westmont didn't have quite enough to beat Prospect and fell 4-3. One thing that didn't help the Warriors' chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Evelyn Santos.

Lujyne Shalaby and Santos scored all three of Westmont's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Meanwhile, Gunderson came into Tuesday's match having lost ten straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They put the hurt on Independence with a sharp 5-1 win on Tuesday. The Grizzlies' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Gunderson's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for Westmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10-1.

Westmont took their win against Gunderson when the teams last played on January 14th by a conclusive 8-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westmont since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
