Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for El Rancho

El Rancho had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 25-point drubbing they dealt Bellflower on Thursday. The Dons blew past the Buccaneers 50-25. The Dons not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since January 3rd (when they won 66-6).

El Rancho's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emma Gonzalez led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Gonzalez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Samantha Gutierrez, who posted 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

The win (which was El Rancho's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. As for Bellflower, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, El Rancho will square off against Poly at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Bellflower, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Gahr at 5:30 p.m. on December 1.
