Softball Recap: Troup County Wins Going Away Against Lagrange

Troup County hadn't done well against LaGrange recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Tigers blew past the Grangers 8-0. Considering the Tigers have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hadley Johnston was excellent, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in August. Another player making a difference was Camryn Nunis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Troup County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-14. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for LaGrange, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Troup County will welcome Sandy Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for LaGrange, they will be playing at home against Upson-Lee at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Grangers are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
