Baseball Recap: Grace Christian Academy Cougars vs. Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Grace Christian Academy can now relate to. They fell just short of the Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-4 on Thursday.
Aiden Whittaker put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Whittaker wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Landon Temples also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
This is the second loss in a row for Grace Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 14-9. As for Vidalia Heritage Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-13 record this season.
Grace Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Vidalia Heritage Academy, they will challenge Citizens Christian Academy on Thursday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
