Football Game Preview: Screven County Gamecocks vs. Savannah Bluejackets

Screven County has gone a perfect 3-0 against Savannah recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Gamecocks will host the Bluejackets at 7:30 p.m. Screven County will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Screven County will bounce into Friday's matchup after beating Metter, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. The Gamecocks were the clear victors by a 27-7 margin over the Tigers on Friday. The Gamecocks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Demarko Ward, who rushed for 210 yards and four scores while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Those 210 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Screven County also got a significant boost from AB Hilton, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 85 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Screven County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 365 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Savannah). They walked away with a 19-6 win over Claxton on Friday.

Savannah didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tyshaun Coleman and Caden Wright. Another thorn in Claxton's side was Eli Frieson, who made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Screven County's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Savannah, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Screven County took their victory against Savannah when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 21-0 score. Do the Gamecocks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
