Basketball Game Preview: Mira Monte Lions vs. Garces Memorial Rams

The Mira Monte Lions and the Garces Memorial Rams will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mira Monte hasn't scored more than 24 points for three games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Mira Monte's tournament run continued when they took on Summit Charter Collegiate Academy on Thursday. Mira Monte was dealt a 53-24 loss at the hands of Summit Charter Collegiate Academy.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Garces Memorial). They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 53-8 win over Kennedy. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Garces Memorial's win came from a few key players Mira Monte will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zoey Venegas, who posted 15 points. Skye Richard was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Garces Memorial's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Mira Monte, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Mira Monte couldn't quite finish off Garces Memorial when the teams last played back in November and fell 40-37. Can Mira Monte avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
