Basketball Game Preview: Tri County Trojans vs. Sterling Jets

The Tri County Trojans will head out to take on the Sterling Jets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tri County will be strutting in after a victory while Sterling will be coming in after a loss.

On Tuesday, Tri County needed a bit of extra time to put away Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-51 win over the Titans. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tri County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isabelle Peters, who posted 15 points in addition to eight steals and six assists. Peters has become a key player for the Trojans: the team is 12-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 3-6 otherwise. Brooke Morgan was another key player, putting up 12 points and seven boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Tri County was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 13-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Sterling was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were dealt a 70-19 loss at the hands of Freeman. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Falcons are ranked 67th).

Tri County's record is now 15-7. As for Sterling, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

Everything came up roses for Tri County against Sterling in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, as the squad secured a 61-31 victory. In that game, the Trojans amassed a halftime lead of 39-18, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
