Basketball Recap: Coastal Academy Comes Up Short

Coastal Academy lost against Foothills Christian back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Coastal Academy Stingrays took a hard 37-23 fall against the Foothills Christian Knights. While the Stingrays didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 9-3 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Coastal Academy still got an impressive performance from Heiress Afalava, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 16 points. That's the most points Afalava has posted since back in January of 2024.

Even though they lost, Coastal Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Coastal Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Foothills Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.

Coastal Academy has already played their next match, a 39-25 victory against San Diego Jewish Academy on the 16th. As for Foothills Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-21 win against Guajome Park Academy on the 17th.
