Basketball Recap: Susquenita's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Susquenita was the 33-22 winner over Boiling Springs when they last played one another back in January of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Susquenita Blackhawks received a blow on Saturday as they fell 59-40 to the Boiling Springs Bubblers. While losing is never fun, the Blackhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Bubblers are ranked 56th).

Despite the loss, Susquenita still got an impressive performance from Ayahna Fleisher, who went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc on her way to 24 points. Tierney Stuempfle was another key player, putting up seven points.

Boiling Springs got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Madyson Brownawell out in front who went 6 of 10 en route to 13 points and six steals. Brownawell has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madalynn Weidner, who went 9 of 16 on her way to 21 points and five rebounds.

Susquenita's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5. As for Boiling Springs, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Susquenita will venture away from home to square off against Millersburg at 6:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Boiling Springs, they will head out to challenge Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
