Recap: Santa Paula Cardinals vs. Fillmore Flashes
The Santa Paula Cardinals can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 53-1 victory over Fillmore. With Santa Paula ahead 25-1 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Santa Paula's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalynn Rico, who scored eight points along with seven assists and five steals. Rico has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madilyn Stonebraker, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and six steals.
The win was the fifth in a row for Santa Paula, bringing their record for this year to 15-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Fillmore, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Paula on the road again on Wednesday and play against Channel Islands at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Fillmore, they will challenge Malibu at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Malibu has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
