Softball Recap: Papillion-Lavista South Drops Season-High Score on South Sioux City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Papillion-LaVista South). They blew past the South Sioux City Cardinals 15-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Titans have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hannah Winans looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024.

At the plate, Kaitlyn Herd and Jo Warriner did most of the damage at the plate: Herd went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Warriner went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Warriner a new career-high. Chyler Hoke was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Papillion-LaVista South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .833. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Papillion-LaVista South has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for South Sioux City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 15 of their last 17 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-26 record this season.
