Softball Recap: Pensacola Catholic Takes a Loss

Pensacola Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 15-4 to the Escambia Gators. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gators apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Morgan Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Lela Laurence was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Pensacola Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Escambia, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pensacola Catholic will take on West Florida at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pensacola Catholic has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Escambia, they will host Booker T. Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Booker T. Washington has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.25 runs per game on average), something Escambia will no doubt try to take advantage of.
