Basketball Recap: Independence Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Independence came tearing into Friday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Strayhorn Mustangs 85-21. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Strayhorn, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Independence will face off against South Panola at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 65.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Strayhorn, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hickory Flat at 7:30 p.m. on December 5.
