Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Dacula

Dacula had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Discovery Titans a 12-0 shutout. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 7-1 victory last Wednesday.

Jared Glenn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Dacula: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Reiston Durham, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrison Cantrell, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Dacula was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Dacula's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Discovery, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.
