Soccer Game Preview: Laguna Hills vs. Costa Mesa

The Laguna Hills Hawks will face off against the Costa Mesa Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Laguna Hills is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Sage Hill on Friday. They fell just short of the Lightning by a score of 1-0. The game was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but the Hawks couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Costa Mesa kept a clean sheet against Tustin two weeks ago. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Tillers. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Tillers are ranked 435th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Costa Mesa is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those eight contests. As for Laguna Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-3-2 record this season.
