The La Quinta Aztecs posted their closest victory since November 16, 2023 on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Los Amigos and snuck past 37-34. The victory was nothing new for La Quinta as they're now sitting on three straight.
Leading La Quinta to victory were Natalie Tran and Katelyn Vo. Tran scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Vo scored six points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Vo hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Chloe Luong, who scored five points.
When it comes to explaining why Los Amigos lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sophia Boyer. Despite the final result, she scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks. Boyer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Madeleine Nguyen was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
The win got La Quinta back to even at 12-12. As for Los Amigos, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
