Baseball Game Preview: Rockdale County Bulldogs vs. Grovetown Warriors

Rockdale County hasn't had much luck against Grovetown recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Rockdale County's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Cedar Shoals. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Wayde Maddox was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Rockdale County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Celeb Ellison, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Rockdale County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Grovetown not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 3rd. They put the hurt on Rockdale County with a sharp 10-1 win. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Boston Rowan was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Brodie Combs, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Rockdale County's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Grovetown, their victory bumped their record up to 10-13.

Rockdale County suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Grovetown when the teams last played on Tuesday. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
