Softball Recap: NEN Has No Trouble Against Boone Central

NEN won the last time they faced Boone Central and things went their way on Saturday too. NEN was the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over Boone Central. Considering NEN has won four contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Anna Jacobs was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Riley Scholting was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zoey Duncan, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

NEN hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matches.

NEN's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Boone Central, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

NEN didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-2 victory against O'Neill on the 2nd. Boone Central has also already played their next contest (against North Bend Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
