Baseball Game Preview: Galloway Scots vs. Walker Wolverines

The Galloway Scots will challenge the Walker Wolverines at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Galloway took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out St. Francis 5-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Scots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Tucker Happel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joaquin Mon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Walker sidestepped Landmark Christian for a 7-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the War Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Brendan Finger was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Walker is 4-1 when Finger posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Travis Tatom, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Walker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Walker pushed their record up to 8-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Galloway, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
