Basketball Recap: Miami Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Miami rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 64-54 win over the St. Johns Redskins. This was payback for the Vandals, who suffered a 53-21 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Miami found their leader in sophomore Tamia Pietila, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine steals. Pietila has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 31 times she's played. Demetria Dosela was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five rebounds and three blocks.

Despite the loss, St. Johns still got an impressive performance from Evelyn Andrus, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Sarah Patterson, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Miami and bumps their season record up to 29-2. As for St. Johns, their loss dropped their record down to 30-6.

Looking ahead, Miami will face off against Arizona Lutheran Academy at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Miami is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.3 points per game this season. St. Johns does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
